You will be picked up from your hotel around 0600 hour and will travel in an air conditioned coach to Alexandria accompanied by an English speaking guide. Alexandria is about 3 hours driving from Cairo and is the largest port and second largest city of Egypt located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is internationally known as “the Bride of the Mediterranean” and was named after Alexander the Great who built it in 322 BC to be the capital of his reign in Egypt. Visit the Pompey’s pillar, which is 28 m high, dates from the third century amidst the remaining relics of the Serapium, the pillar was erected in honor of the Greek emperor Diocletian, The Catacomb of Kom Al Shukafa is the largest Roman cemetery, they consist of three levels cut in the rock to a depth of 100 feet, dating back to the turn of the 2nd century AD, it is a blend of Pharaonic and Roman art. Stop for lunch. The National Museum of Alexandria, which hoses artifacts represented in statues, marble pillars and a collection of coins dating from the Greco Roman era, in addition to a collection of Christian artifacts of which the most important is Saint Mina’s collection. After this you will return back to Cairo and will be dropped at your hotel.
