Mauritius enjoys a Tropical climate round the year. Southeast trade winds play an important role. Mauritius remains mild, dry winter throughout the months of May to November. It is hot, wet and humid between the months of November to May. Tropical cyclones are common at the end of December and continue till March. There are only two distinctive seasons, summer and winter, and the temperature difference is not much. The climate on the central plateau is cooler than on the coastal areas.
